These five human resources scholarships help ease that financial burden for deserving students.

1. Anthony C. “Tony” Russo Scholarship

Graduate students pursuing careers in any area of the public sector labor and employee relations are invited to apply for the Anthony C. “Tony” Russo Scholarship. This annual award was founded by the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association (NPELRA) and is made possible through generous donations by NPELRA members. Award amounts vary annually, based on that year’s contributions. This is a merit-based scholarship, so all graduate students in related majors with good academic standing are encouraged to apply.

2. Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship

Majoring in business as an undergraduate is one of the surest paths to a career in human resources. While women in business have made enormous cracks in the glass ceiling, it still holds solid in many areas. Zonta International has therefore established the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. High school and college women of any age, studying under any business-related field, displaying high academic achievement are encouraged to apply. Annually, Zonta awards 32 women $2000 each at the district and regional level, and six women $8000 at the international level. Applicants will submit a short essay detailing their academic and career goals, along with letters of recommendation and official transcripts.

3. MyCDLapp Scholarship

My CDL App is an app that assists future commercial drivers in applying for their commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and potential commercial driving jobs. They took notice that, while online employment applications illicit a more highly qualified set of candidates and a more efficient hiring process, many companies still do not use them. My CDL App invites undergraduate and graduate human resources majors to enter their MyCDLapp Essay Scholarship contest. Applicants must hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an essay explaining the differences between paper and online employment applications. They offer three awards at $2500 each.

4. Project Management Institution Education Foundation

As project management is one of the main tasks of a human services professionals, human resources students should consider applying for the the Project Management Institution Education Foundation (PMIEF) academic scholarships. The offer a wide range of scholarships for both graduate and undergraduate students, awards ranging from $1000 to $7500. The various State chapters of PMI offer scholarships of their own. PMIEF also offers a full tuition scholarship to students who successful enroll in their own University of Management Technology. This is a great opportunity for students who are not yet sure which institution they want to attend, but know that they want to focus their human resources careers on the tech industry.

5. UNCF CVS Pharmacy, Inc. Business Scholarship

The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and CVS Pharmacies have teamed up to offer the UNCF CVS Pharmacy, Inc. Business Scholarship to business-related undergraduate and graduate majors. This specifically includes human resources majors. Applicants must demonstrate both financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Awards total $5000 each.

There are a wide range of careers available within the human resources field. Each is dynamic, perpetually relevant, and lucrative. They also each require earning at least a bachelors degree, and in many cases, a graduate degree. These five human resources scholarships were developed by institutes, foundations, and individuals who wish to assist human resources students in realizing their academic and career goals.
