For applicants seeking online study, the University of Southern Indiana offers six undergraduate programs and seven graduate programs. All programs except for the Bachelor of Professional Studies are degree completion programs. Online students may also earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Science in Sports Management, or a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Certificates for graduate students are also available in instructional communication and addiction science. Enrollees may also pursue the Online Certification/Continuing Education for Health Professionals program or several continuing education courses offered under the Lifelong Learning program at the University of Southern Indiana. Conveniently, many classes are available to students as non-credit courses.

About University of Southern Indiana

The University of Southern Indiana is a public university that has operated since 1965. It was established as Indiana State University – Evansville and would become the University of Southern Indiana in 1985. There are more than 9,000 students attending the university, which has a suburban campus in Evansville of more than 1,400 acres. The university’s official colors are white, cardinal, and navy. The students are nicknamed the Screaming Eagles on their sports teams.

The university is part of the Association of State Colleges and Universities and is also part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division II. University of Southern Indiana Accreditation Details

Regional accreditation for the University of Southern Indiana has been granted by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Regional accreditation covers the entire university and grades the institution on its operational effectiveness. Other agencies and commissions also accredit programs at the university on a case-by-case basis with those agencies being recognized by the Department of Education.

Approvals have been earned from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Occupational Therapy Association, the American Dental Association, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Other approvals come from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and the Council on Social Work Education Office of Social Work Accreditation.

University of Southern Indiana Application Requirements

The University of Southern Indiana has some minimum application requirements for freshmen students interested in bachelor’s degree programs. In addition to submitting the online application and a $40 application fee, the university also requires that students provide a transcript that shows four years of English, three to four years of math, and a handful of other course requirements.

Applicants must also have a grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Students who are 24-years-old or older have a more relaxed GPA requirement with the university requiring a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for older applicants. The minimum scores for standardized tests at the University of Southern Indiana are 900 for the SAT and 17 for the ACT. Students who are 21-years-old or older don’t need to submit standardized test scores.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for Indiana residents who attend the University of Southern Indiana is $264.10 per credit hour. The RN to BSN online completion program is $297.00 per credit hour. Non-residents who attend the University of Southern Indiana will pay $641.19 per credit hour. The RN to BSN online completion program for out-of-state students is $297.00 per credit hour. Students may also need to pay program fees for certain degrees.

For example, the computer science program is $75.00 per credit hour. Students from Kentucky may qualify for a lower rate than other non-residents through the Non-Resident Reciprocity program that the University of Southern Indiana has with Kentucky. Graduate students who live in Indiana will pay $392.76 per credit hour, and non-residents will pay $769.49 per credit hour. The online MBA program has a different rate for all students, which is $430.00 per credit hour.

Students will apply for financial aid each year they are enrolled at the University of Southern Indiana. All students should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) because it may qualify them for grant money that doesn’t need to be repaid after graduation. The FAFSA form is also necessary for students who want to participate in the federal student loan program, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance works with students who want to apply for and qualify for scholarships. There are several merit-based scholarships that students may receive if their standardized test scores and GPAs are higher than average. Students may receive the Presidential Scholarship from the University of Southern Indiana if they have a 4.0 GPA at their high school with the scholarship covering all tuition costs and room & board.
