The University of Connecticut offers many online programs that are designed with the working adult in mind. Students are able to achieve their higher education goals while still meeting other obligations that may hinder their ability to attend traditional classes. The online graduate program in educational technology offered at the University of Connecticut puts theory into practice. The program is offered over two summers and results in a Master of Arts degree. The program provides students with an understanding of learning outcomes based on national standards while addressing web-based learning, problem-based learning and other emerging technologies in education. The program requires students to complete online courses during the fall and spring semesters and to attend on-campus courses during the summer. It is designed for professionals who are already working in education.

The University of Connecticut offers an online Human Resource Management program that is the same top-ranked program provided to students in traditional classes. The Master of Science degree provides students with the skills they need to become human resource leaders. The program provides an understanding of strategic HR competencies, real-world approaches to human resource issues and the ability to collaborate with peers and renowned faculty. The program is a 33-credit non-thesis degree and electives allow students to focus their degree in a specific area. Courses cover subjects such as talent management, compensation, total rewards, organizational risk, metrics, and analytics. The program ends with a capstone where students develop real-world cases in order to assess the impact on an organization. To apply for the program, students must provide a brief personal statement, two professional letters of reference and a professional resume. Students do not need to provide GMAT or GRE scores.

The Master of Arts in Survey Research provides students with the knowledge they need for careers in a growing industry. Students gain an understanding of market studies, analyzing public policy and identifying variables that make a difference. Students receive high-quality instruction in qualitative and quantitative data collection as well as techniques in data analysis. Students learn how to help businesses measure the effectiveness of media campaigns and determine whether new products or services are feasible. Surveys are also valuable to political and public leaders as well as non-profits. The tuition for the online program is $825 per credit hour. In order to apply, students must complete an application and provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as well as a current resume and three letters of recommendation. A personal statement must also be provided. GRE, LSAT or GMAT scores are not required.

About the University of Connecticut

In 1880, the University of Connecticut began when Charles and Augusta Storrs donated a former orphanage, land, barns and $6,000 to the state in order to begin the Storrs Agricultural School. Initially, the school only accepted men, something that changed in 1893 when the name of the school was changed to the Storrs Agricultural College and women were admitted. The school also became the state’s land-grant college under the Morrill Act.

In 1899, Storrs Agricultural College became Connecticut Agricultural College, becoming Connecticut State College in 1933. The school gained university status in 1939, becoming the University of Connecticut.

University of Connecticut Accreditation Details

The University of Connecticut is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges Inc., Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. University of Connecticut Application Requirements

Freshman, students who have not earned college credit after they graduate high school, must complete either the Common Application or the Coalition Application and pay the admission fee. An essay and official high school transcripts are required. Students may also submit two optional letters of recommendation. Official SAT or ACT scores are also required.

Students who have earned college credit after high school graduation should apply through the UConn Application or they may use the Common Application. Students must provide official college transcripts from all colleges and universities they have attended as well as official high school transcripts. Students who are under the age of 21 or have not completed 24 college credit hours must provide official SAT and ACT scores. An essay is required, and some programs may require supplemental application materials.

In order to apply to graduate programs at the University of Connecticut, students must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Students must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for their entire undergraduate career or a 3.0 in their last two undergraduate years. Students who have exceptional work in their final undergraduate year, such as a GPA of 3.5 or better, may also apply. Some programs require official GRE or GMAT scores as well.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time undergraduate tuition at the University of Connecticut is $12,848 for in-state students and $35,216 for out-of-state students. Students who are residents of New England states may be eligible for a tuition reduction if the degree they are seeking is not offered at a public institution in their state. Full-time tuition for the New England Regional Student Program is $21,566. Graduate tuition is $507 per credit hour.

In order to be eligible for financial aid, students must complete the FAFSA. Students may be eligible for gift aid in the form of grants and scholarships which do not have to be repaid. Students may also qualify for parent and student loans which do need to be repaid.
