About Ohio Dominican University
Ohio Dominican University originated on October 5, 1911, when the General Assembly chartered the College of St. Mary of the Springs for private women’s education. In 1924, Sister Regina Murphy admitted the inaugural class for four-year bachelor’s degrees. Four decades after, Sister Suzanne Uhrhane started a coeducational admission policy for men and women. In 1968, the school was renamed Ohio Dominican College to honor its Dominican Sisters of Peace. During the 1990s, Ohio Dominican launched weekend and evening classes for adults. On July 1, 2002, the Ohio Dominican University name was formally adopted. Five years later, ODU established The Charles School to serve high schoolers in Grades 9-12. In Fall 2007, enrollment at Ohio Dominican reached a record-high 3,700. In 2017, Ohio Dominican University joined the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for NCAA Division II athletics.

Ohio Dominican University Accreditation Details
On August 3, 2018, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Institutional Actions Council sent formal notification to Ohio Dominican University that the Level V accreditation was extended through the next 2027-28 review under President Robert A. Gervasi, Ph.D., a Fulbright Senior Scholar. Located 360 miles northwest via Interstate 70 in Chicago, this huge 19-state Heartland Region accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE). The Office of Institutional Research & Assessment also lists the following degree approvals:

Ohio Dominican University Application Requirements
Entering Ohio Dominican University is classified as “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s since 1,168 of the 1,550 Fall 2018 applicants were selected for 75 percent acceptance. First-year Panthers must have achieved a satisfactory high school curriculum or the GED equivalent. Cumulative weighted GPAs of 2.30 and better are required. Freshmen need at least 18 ACT or 940 SAT scores. Individuals with GPAs above 2.70 can opt for a test-optional application though. The Class of 2022 achieved an average 3.26, 1025 SAT, and 21 ACT mark. Transfers with 24-90 previous accredited credits graded C- or greater are welcome. Non-U.S. residents can enroll with minimum 550 TOEFL and 6.5 IELTS scores or ELS Level 112 completion. The Graduate Admission Office mandates a four-year bachelor’s GPA of 3.0 on the four-point scale. GPAs of 2.75-2.99 are permitted with two or more years of experience. The Online M.S. in Sport Management seeks GRE Quantitative and Verbal scores over 150. Online M.Ed. cohorts also need Ohio K-12 teaching certification.
Ohio Dominican University conveniently has a rolling admission policy. Final deadlines are August 10th for Fall I, October 7th for Fall II, January 4th for Spring I, March 9th for Spring II, and May 22nd for Summer. Priority dates are July 6th, September 2nd, November 30th, February 3rd, and April 20th respectively. International students must apply before June 1st or November 1st. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Ohio Dominican University is billing full-time undergrads $15,550 each semester. Traditional part-time study incurs $735 per credit. Summer sessions cost $360 per credit. Course overloads over 18 are $680 apiece. Bachelor’s majors cover a $290 activity fee and a $175 technology fee per term. Residing at the Columbus housing like Sansbury Hall adds $2,710 to $4,060 each semester. Standard 220-block plans for Hamilton Dining Hall are $2,490 extra. ODU budgets $1,100 for books and $2,092 for personal expenses. Annual attendance equals about $45,220 on-site or $36,272 if commuting. Online undergrads spend $385 per credit. The Graduate School charges most online master’s cohorts $538 per credit. The MBA and M.S. in Sport Management require $600 per credit. According to the NCES College Navigator, the Financial Aid Office in Erskine Hall Room 147 helps 100 percent of new full-time ODU Panthers find tuition assistance averaging $22,254 each for $5.31 million combined. University funds include the Austin E. Knowlton Memorial Scholarship, Bishop Frederick F. Campbell Scholarship, Irene Altman Scholarship, Andrea Vadas Ashburn Scholarship, Battelle Scholarship, Father John Joachim Bauer Scholarship, Sister Estelle Casalandra Scholarship, Monsignor Leonard J. Fick Scholarship, Fink Family Scholarship, Eileen Warren Herald Scholarship, Sister Mary McElroy Scholarship, Ralph Sanese Sr. Scholarship, Leo Yassenoff Scholarship, and Margaret List Wagner Scholarship. The Freshman Merit Scholarship provides $19,000 annually to exemplary high school grads with a minimum 29 ACT score. The $16,000 Transfer Merit Scholarship goes to outstanding undergrads with 24+ credits and GPAs of 3.30-4.0.
