About Marquette University

Marquette University originated on August 28, 1881, when Archbishop John Martin Henni opened an all-male Jesuit college named for Rev. Jacques Marquette. In 1887, Marquette College graduated an inaugural class of seven Bachelor of Arts majors. In 1907, Marquette earned university status and partnered with the Milwaukee Medical College. On March 5, 2014, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) issued a new Institutional Status Report to extend the Level VI accreditation at Marquette University through the next 2023-24 evaluation under President Michael R. Lovell, Ph.D., who earned the Olympus Emerging Academic Innovator Award. Located 91 miles down Interstate 94 in Chicago, this giant 19-state Great Lakes Region accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Wisconsin State Department of Education. Marquette University Application Requirements

Admission at Marquette University is classified as “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because only 12,717 of the 15,574 Fall 2018 applicants were triumphant for 82 percent acceptance. First-year Golden Eagles must culminate a rigorous college-prep curriculum. Taking four years of English and math is strongly recommended. Only the Early College Credit Program admits non-graduates for up to 18 credits. The Class of 2022 reported an average GPA of 3.65. Mid-range SAT scores were 1150-1320. The middle 50th percentile had ACT scores of 24-29. Transfers are test-optional after 30+ college credits with cumulative GPAs above 2.0. Foreign learners still need a minimum 6.5 IELTS, 213 TOEFL cBT, or similar score. The Graduate School seeks a four-year bachelor’s completion at accredited colleges with 3.0 or greater GPAs. Overall GPAs of 3.25 or better qualify for GRE waivers. The College of Business accepts an average GMAT score of 580. Law School cohorts achieve a mean LSAT score of 154.

Marquette University has a priority freshman deadline of December 1st. For scholarship consideration, apply by January 15th. Transfer deadlines are July 1st for Fall and December 1st for Spring starts. The College of Nursing seeks transfers by May 1st though. Many Graduate School programs have rolling admission. However, the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling closes on February 1st. The Ph.D. in English has a January 15th deadline. Ph.D. in Religious Studies candidates must file before December 15th.
