Degree Programs Available at Herzing University

Herzing University offers career programs for students that help them start or advance their careers once they graduate. Some of these programs take as little as two weeks to complete and help students earn an associate’s degree. With an associate’s in nursing, students can transfer to a BSN program and get their nursing licenses. The university also offers an LPN to associate for students who work as licensed practical nurses. Accounting, business management, medical coding, medical office administration, information technology, software development, and emergency medical technician are some of the other majors available at the associate’s level.
Nursing students with an RN or any type of nursing license can enroll in one of the BSN programs to finish a bachelor’s in nurses. Depending on how much experience they have, they may not need to do any fieldwork. In the entrepreneurship program, students learn the fundamentals of opening a business and running a company. This program shares courses with the majors that are available in management and marketing. Those in criminal justice programs can select from concentrations in supervision and management or homeland security. Herzing University also offers information technology, software development and other technology programs at the bachelor’s level.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is one of the top graduate programs available from the university. It features six concentrations, including project management, technology management, and accounting. Students can also choose two concentrations through the dual concentration option, but this will require that they take more classes and spend more time at the university. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program features concentrations such as nurse educator and nursing leadership and administration. Majors can earn a certificate in either nurse education or family nurse practitioner too. Those certificates are also available for students who have a master’s degree from another school.
The university launched Herzing University Online as a way to let students work on or complete their degrees without visiting one of its campuses. Students can choose from programs in several fields, including health care, nursing, and business. The online campus also offers a legal studies program and a paralegal studies program. In the paralegal studies program, students learn how to manage a legal office and handle daily tasks such as legal research. The legal studies program helps students prepare for law school and features courses in various types of law, including criminal and civil law.
About Herzing University
Herzing University is a private university that offers career prep classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students have the option of studying on-campus at one of the university’s locations or online. Herzing opened with one campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1965 by Henry and Suzanne Herzing. Early programs focused on computer science, which was a growing industry at the time. It slowly grew as it acquired other schools and changed its name to the Herzing Institute in 1970 to reflect that growth. Known as Herzing College from 1996 on, it became Herzing University in 2009 after adding its first online and graduate degree programs. The Herzing system is quite large today as it operates an online division and seven physical campuses in cities such as Milwaukee, Winter Park, Akron and Birmingham, which was once the Massey Business College.
Herzing University Accreditation Details
All campuses in the Herzing University System have regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This form of accreditation helps students use their credits when they transfer to a different school and get financial aid when they apply with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) awarded Herzing accreditation for the MBA and other business programs that it offers. Students can check the university’s website to view the other programs and campuses that have accreditation.
Herzing University Application Requirements
Undergrads should schedule a meeting with Herzing to talk about their needs and the programs that interest them. This meeting can take place on campus or over the phone. It allows students to learn about their financial aid opportunities too. They will then submit their transcripts and complete the application, which allows Herzing to determine if they’re ready for college and if they need to take prerequisite courses. Students may need to take a placement test through the university, which is required of those who did not take the ACT or SAT. Herzing allows students to register once they meet these requirements and apply for financial aid.
Incoming graduate students need to check the Graduate Catalog and view all the admissions requirements that each program has. This usually includes a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, but programs may accept students who have more professional experience and lower grades. Students applying to the MSN programs need to submit copies of their nursing licenses too. Herzing then asks students to meet with an admission advisor and fill out the graduate application. They also need to provide their college transcripts and a GMAT or GRE score if they have one. An enrollment fee of $50 is due before the semester starts and students can register for classes too.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Though Herzing charges different rates for students at all its campuses, the average cost that undergrads pay is $14,200 a year. Graduate students pay between $650 and $750 per credit hour. Any student who signs up for classes on campus will usually pay more than those who take online classes do. The Tuition Wizard is a tool that the university offers, which allows students to view their estimated costs after they answer questions about their programs and credits.
Herzing financial aid packages often include student employment, grants, loans, and scholarships. Unlike other schools that only offer scholarships for undergrads, Herzing has some awards that go to graduate students. The Herzing University Scholarship has one award for students with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49 and another for those with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students must provide a high school transcript that shows their GPA within eight weeks of the semester starting to get this scholarship. Those who qualify for more than one type of financial aid when they submit the FAFSA can combine their awards to pay for one of the degree programs at Herzing University.
