Baker College describes its online courses as ones that have deadlines but that the schedules students can choose for their education include the flexibility to suit a variety of scheduling requirements. For students interested in studying accounting, it’s possible to take many classes online, as well as take classes on campus for a hybrid approach to a college degree. About Baker College
Located in Flint, Michigan, Baker College is a private school that was founded in 1911. The school covers 53 acres on its urban campus, and it also has eight additional locations outside Flint. The school operates as a career college with more than 150 areas of study. Not all programs are available at every location, but some of the school’s most popular programs include those in business, human services, technology, healthcare, and education. Students may enter programs for certificates, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and graduate degrees, as well as doctoral degrees. The school is a member of the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers Transfer Agreement, which helps students who have earned credits in the system transfer to other schools participating in the transfer agreement.
The school was once known as Baker Business University and was named after its founder, Eldon E. Baker. In the 1960s, the school merged with nearby Muskegon College. The school would become Baker Junior College in 1974 and would eventually become a non-profit corporation in the late seventies. The school has undergone expansion in the last decade with its renovation of a closed auto dealership in 2008 to expand its Flint campus and the creation of a new three-story facility in downtown Muskegon in 2009 for students in the culinary arts. The school’s Baker College of Cadillac opened a Center for Transportation in 2010, and the school’s Culinary Institute of Michigan was granted Exemplary Status for accreditation by the American Culinary Federation. The school celebrated its centennial in 2011.

Baker College is recognized by the State of Michigan, Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs as a not-for-profit educational corporation and is also licensed by the U.S. Department of Education for status as a school of higher education. These accreditations allow the school to grant degrees ranging from associates to doctoral levels, as well as educational certificates. The school’s status also allows it to receive funds for the benefit of veterans. For its regional accreditation, the school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of Chicago, Illinois. The school is also a participant in the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). Baker College Application Requirements
The undergraduate programs at Baker College are open to all students who have earned a high school diploma or GED. The college doesn’t accept certificates of completion for proof of high school education. Students are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, but students who take the test are encouraged to submit the results of the test to the Baker College Enrollment Center. Students who wish to apply to one of the college’s graduate programs must submit the official application, pay a $35 application fee, submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities, and create an essay of 500 to 1,000 words sharing the student’s objectives in earning a graduate degree. Students must also submit a current resume, as well as an explanation if the student’s cumulative GPA was less than 2.5.
Tuition and Financial Aid
For the majority of undergraduate programs at Baker College, students will pay $390 per credit hour. Some programs require higher fees. For example, the Dental Hygiene professional track costs $475 per credit hour and the Electronic Health Records program is $405 per credit hour. For graduate studies, the school charges $695 per credit hour, and for the school’s doctoral programs it charges $915 per hour. For the Graduate Cloud Risk Security program, the charge is $1,200 per credit hour. Active-duty and service members can enroll with reduced tuition. For example, the GoArmy Ed Program features a $247 per credit cost and Active Military applicants also pay $247 per credit hour. Students will also need to pay some fees like a $30 undergraduate application fee, a $35 graduate application fee, and a $35 payment plan fee.
Students interested in financial aid at Baker College may apply for scholarships, grants, and loans, as well as military and VA funding.
