In this article, we profile the 50 most affordable online master’s in elementary education programs for 2018.

A master’s in elementary education is a graduate degree that aims to prepare teachers with advanced skills in education. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, elementary school teachers earn a median salary of $55,490 per year, while elementary principals earn a median salary of $87,000. Higher paid positions require a graduate degree. We reviewed over 100 accredited colleges and universities with a graduate tuition of less than $25,000 that offered online master’s in elementary education programs or closely related degrees. Using the information provided by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) College Navigator, we selected the 50 most affordable online programs and listed them according to raw affordability. We confirmed school and program accreditation and noted those that had received rankings or recognition from major publications like U.S. News and World Report. We then listed the schools according to raw affordability.
