In 1877, Italian Jesuits living in exile in Las Vegas, New Mexico, founded a small school they called Las Vegas College. The school relocated to Morrison, Colorado, in 1884 where it became known as College of the Sacred Heart. John Brisben Walker donated land in Denver in 1887 and the campus remains there today. In 1921, the school was renamed Regis University after John Francis Regis, the Jesuit-saint.
In 1988, when Loretto Heights College closed, Regis absorbed some of the academic programs, including nursing and University Without Walls. Today, there are 15,000 students attending Regis College. U.S. News & World Report lists Regis University as a Top Tier Western University and 14 Nobel laureates have visited the campus in the past decade.

Regis University Application Requirements
Undergraduates who have not earned credits after high school graduation are entered as freshmen at Regis University. Students must complete an application and provide official high school transcripts. Students must also provide official ACT and SAT scores. Various programs may require additional admission documents, so students are encouraged to speak to an Admissions Specialist before applying.
Graduate applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and must provide transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. One of the transcripts must indicate the conferring of the degree. Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition rate averages $490 per credit hour, although some programs may have different rates. Graduate tuition varies depending on the program and whether it is a traditional or non-traditional format.
Financial aid is available and the FAFSA is required to qualify for assistance. The average financial aid award is $22,000 at Regis University. Financial aid is available in the form of scholarships, both merit and competitive, grants and loans. Students may also qualify for work-study programs and there are also financing options. Bachelor of Science in Criminology
The Bachelor of Science in Criminology at Regis University is available completely online. The program prepares students for careers that deter criminal behavior. Students gain an understanding of how criminals think with the goal of preventing criminal activity before they happen. The program is different than a criminal justice degree, which focuses on law enforcement. The Master of Science in Criminology at Regis University is for students who are are planning to advance in careers that focus on reducing criminal behavior. Students explore factors that cause criminal behavior as well as methods for reforming it. Students gain an understanding of the socio-economic, cultural, political and environmental factors that lead to criminal behavior. Students also learn more about criminal psychology, behavior patterns and the sociology of criminal behavior. There is instruction in criminal profiles as well as leadership, ethics and decision-making. Students learn how to analyze crime statistics to assist communities in reducing crime. Students must provide a current resume and official transcripts of all colleges or universities attended. A faculty interview is also required. Tuition for the program is $575 per credit hour.
