About The University of the Cumberlands

The University of the Cumberlands was founded in Kentucky in 1888 by a group of ministers. When the doors first opened, the university was originally known as the Williamsburg Institute. The goal of the facility was to hone the skills of young adults who would become servants and leaders in their communities. In 1913, the facility acquired Highland College. This merge also came with a name change and the college was officially known as Cumberland College. Then, in 2005, the school officially became the University of the Cumberlands. The school is still true to its roots and takes pride in providing an educational experience for those who strive to become the best they can be by tapping into their full potential.

The University of the Cumberlands is home to just under 2,000 undergraduate students and more than 13,000 graduate students. In total, the student body is made up of 17,000 students including those who are taking virtual courses. At the University of the Cumberlands, 53% of students are first-generation participants. Students come from all over the country with 36 American states being represented. The international students make up 38 unique countries and nations. The University of the Cumberlands Accreditation Details

The University of the Cumberlands received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The university also holds unique accreditation credentials in specific departments. The RN-BSN program at the university received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The MSN-FNP program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education as well.

The University of the Cumberlands Application Requirements

Prospective students seeking admissions will have to provide a range of basic documents and application requirements to be considered for admissions. The first step is to create an online account with the University of the Cumberlands and select your status. High school students with dual credits and undergraduate students will need to provide the admissions office with standardized test scores, GPA, and an application fee. Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate students who participate in on-campus programs will pay $23,000 in tuition and fees. Students who reside in on-campus housing will pay $9,000 in room and board. In total, undergraduate tuition is $32,000 as of 2019. For students who are enrolling for the 2019/2020 school year, tuition and fees are $9,975. The room and board fees are $9,300. In total, students will pay $19,175. Undergraduate students taking online courses will pay $199 per credit hour. The technology fee is $50.
