The University of Rochester is divided into seven different schools, which includes the School of Arts & Sciences, Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Eastman School of Music, School of Medicine and Dentistry, School of Nursing, Simon Business School, and the Warner School of Education. Within these seven schools, there are 11 certificate programs, 83 bachelor’s programs, 69 master’s programs, and 60 doctoral programs. The two programs that are fully online are the certificate in Care Management Education and the Registered Nurse (R.N.) to Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program. In addition, the University of Rochester features a hybrid program in which students must meet online and in-person weekly. This program is the Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.).

With its 29 percent acceptance rate, the University of Rochester is considered to be very competitive for applicants to receive admittance. Individuals interested in applying to an undergraduate program at this school must fill out an application form, pay the $50 application fee, turn in high school transcripts, provide one teacher recommendation letter and one school counselor recommendation letter, submit a mid-year report, and turn in a final transcript.
Individuals interested in pursuing a graduate program are required to fill out an application form, pay the $60 application fee, write a personal statement, provide college transcripts, submit standardized test scores, and turn in three letters of recommendation. Depending on which program the student chooses, there may be additional requirements to complete the application process.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The estimated annual tuition cost for undergraduate students attending the University of Rochester is $78,042, including all fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and other necessary expenses.
The tuition rate for graduate students varies by which program the student chooses. The Arts & Sciences & Engineering graduate programs cost $1,718 per credit hour, and the Eastman School of Music graduate programs cost $1,730 per credit hour. The Simon MBA program charges students $2,040 per credit hour, and the Simon Ph.D. program charges $2,079 per credit hour. In addition, the School of Nursing requires graduate students to pay $1,562 per credit, and the Warner School of Education requires graduate students to pay $1,544 per credit.
Undergraduate students who are unable to pay for their full tuition may qualify for a merit-based scholarship offered by the university. Some of the scholarships admitted students can apply for if they meet the eligibility requirements are the Dean’s Scholarship, Genesee Scholarship, Alan and Jane Handler Scholarship, International Baccalaureate Scholarship, Rush Rhees Scholarship, Wilder Leadership Scholarship, and many more.
Graduate students may be able to receive financial assistance by becoming part of a graduate assistantship. The assistantships require students to work a certain number of hours per week helping professors, faculty, and staff with certain duties while also maintaining good academic grades.
