University of La Verne Accreditation Details

The University of La Verne has been continually accredited every eight years by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), one of the recognized regional accrediting bodies in the United States. Furthermore, the College of Education and Organizational Leadership is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Public administration programs have also been approved by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA). Though not separately accredited, the University of La Verne does have a membership with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the business programs.

University of La Verne Application Requirements

Due to revisions made in the Higher Education Act, La Verne Online degree programs are now only open to students residing in California. Before beginning any online classes, students will need to meet a specific set of admissions requirements. Undergraduate online students must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Undergrads must have completed at least 28 semester hours of transferable college-level coursework at an accredited institution, including Freshman Composition. Undergraduate students must enter with a minimum overall GPA of 2.0. Some programs will also require that undergraduates complete an interview.

Prospective graduate online students at the University of La Verne must have already earned a four-year bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. It’s preferred that graduate students maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above for the last two years of their baccalaureate education. International students residing in California can apply if they’ve scored at least 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Though not required, graduate students are encouraged to take the GRE or GMAT exam and submit the scores to further display their professional competency.

For admissions, students must submit an application packet with supplemental materials to the La Verne Admissions Office. Completed applications should include:

• Official high school and college transcripts
• At least two professional letters of recommendation
• College-level standardized test scores
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency
• A $50 non-refundable application processing fee

Tuition and Financial Aid

At the University of La Verne, students enrolling in online degree programs receive a discounted rate over those attending on-site programs at the main campus. La Verne Online has a current tuition rate of $565 per semester hour for undergraduate programs and $720 per semester hour for graduate programs. In addition, online students should be prepared to pay an Academic Services fee of $30 per course, a $9 CEOL Assessment fee per course, and for their textbooks. Students who do not make financial arrangements two weeks prior to the start of the semester will be assessed an additional fee of $100.

As a regionally accredited online institution, the University of La Verne does offer many financial aid options to help afford these tuition costs. Undergraduate students who fill out the FAFSA form promptly could be eligible for receiving Federal Pell Grants, the FSEOG Grant, Federal Perkins Loans, or Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans from the government. La Verne Online students could also be considered for the Cal Grant if they’ve attended and graduated from a California high school.

For financial aid that won’t need to be repaid, the University of La Verne offers several scholarship funding opportunities to incoming students. Online students are qualified for receiving the La Verne Academic Scholarships, La Verne Performance Scholarships, International Student Scholastic Awards, or Graduate Scholarships. A tuition grant is given each year to an entering student from each of the Brethren Churches in America too. Students who meet the definition of a “veteran” may also be eligible for VA benefits through La Verne’s Yellow Ribbon Program.

B.A. Business Administration

Offered 100% online with no campus visits, the B.A. Business Administration program at La Verne is designed to link theory with current practices to help undergraduates build a successful career in any industry of business. B.S. Organizational Management

Featuring courses in business ethics, management, leadership, organizational behavior, budgeting, stress management, gender issues, and human resources, the online B.S. Organizational Management (BSOM) program seeks to build the general management abilities needed for leading today’s evolving businesses. Graduates will master the human aspects of an organization to continually ensure ethical and socially responsible behavior in diverse working environments.

B.S. Public Administration

Online students enrolling in the B.S. Public Administration program will build a solid understanding of the theories, applications, and practices in public sector management through interactive virtual class discussions. Courses will include urban planning, public administration, business ethics, statistics, conflict management, administrative processes, government, policy making, political thought, constitutional law, and business communication.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
