Tiffin University appears in our ranking of the Top 20 Affordable Online Master’s in Law Enforcement Administration Programs.

Tiffin University has 51 undergraduate majors, 17 of which are offered online, and three that are offered as extended learning. Twenty-seven master’s degrees are offered, with 26 of the majors being offered online. The one Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change is non-traditional and requires very little on-campus engagement with the course work offered fully online. All of Tiffin University’s programs are offered through the university’s three academic schools: the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business, and the School of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences.

Ranging from programs of health, fitness & wellness to chemistry, and computer science-software development to psychology, there are many majors to choose from both online and on-campus. Obtaining a Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) in Homeland Security and Terrorism major aims to prepare students to gain an understanding of what is needed to protect citizens in a complex world. Courses offered range from an overview of homeland security, understanding the concepts of terrorism, and emergency organization and management.

Many master’s programs revolve around criminal justice and business administration. The Data Analytics MBA helps develop a student’s understanding of elucidating meaningful conclusions that are actionable from data. The MBA core curriculum requires 24 credit hours through 12 courses ranging from Managerial Business Foundations to Org Analysis and Design. The data analytics concentration requires 12 credit hours through four classes of Database Design and Data Modeling; Applied Statistics and Data Analytics; Advanced Data Analysis Techniques; and Data Visualization, Design and Presentation.

The Ph.D. in Global Leadership and Change has course work that is offered fully online. The program requires a total of 60 credit hours and revolves around a research core, content core, and dissertation core. Each of these cores is designed to build the student’s ability for what will be used when writing their dissertation. Samples courses in the research core are Academic Writing, Statistical Modeling, and Research Prospectus Seminar. The content core focuses on practical analysis, design, and theory through courses such as Leadership and Change Theory and Practice, Ethics and Sustainability Issues, and Advanced Topics in Global Leadership Research. The dissertation core is composed of two courses, Dissertation Proposal Development and Dissertation Research and Completion.

With on-campus classes and many available online classes, Tiffin University offers classes for everyone. Degrees that are very science-based, such as chemistry, to degrees that are inherently more art-based such as music or digital media and design, the diverse classes help make any student feel at home.

About Tiffin University

Tiffin University is a non-profit, private university that was founded in 1812 and established in 1888. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the population of Tiffin University is 51.4 percent men and 48.6 percent women. The main campus is situated on 135 acres in Tiffin, OH along with programs offered online, at Fremont, Toledo, several sites in the Cleveland area, and an MBA offered in Romania.

Ranked as 114th in Regional Universities Midwest by U.S. News & World Report, Tiffin University is NCAA Division II. Three percent of men are in a fraternity and three percent of women are in a sorority. Offering more than 25 majors, some of which are nationally accredited, Tiffin University has considerably grown since its establishment over 130 years ago.

Tiffin University Accreditation Details

Tiffin University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1985. The Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Ohio Department of Staff Development and Certification have authorized the programs at Tiffin University and have certified eleven of the MBA programs. The BBA and MBA programs are accredited by the European Council for Business Education as well.

Tiffin University Application Requirements

Admission requirements for first-year students are:

  • Submit an undergraduate application for admission.
  • Submission of an official high school transcript Or GED certification
  • Submission of official ACT/SAT scores.

In addition to the above requirements, it is recommended that first-year students have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.25 and an ACT or SAT composite score of 16 or 880 and above, respectively. Special degree programs, such as Tiffin University’s dual-degree program may have more stringent requirements for entrance.

Admission requirements for master’s degree programs are:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university or college
  • A preferred GPA of 3.0 from the student’s past undergraduate work
  • Submission of a resume or curriculum vitae
  • Submission of a personal statement essay

The doctoral program’s requirement is a master’s degree or at least 30 credits of graduate-level coursework. If needed, other elements can be required for evaluating admissions decisions.

Tuition and Financial Aid

According to Tiffin University’s website, the costs per credit for undergraduate on-campus is $907, online and extended learning bachelor’s degree is $460, graduate programs range from $550-$700, and doctorate level is $800. This results in an estimated full-time undergraduate cost of $26,110 for tuition and fees and an additional $3,000 in books and supplies according to the NCES.

For full-time beginning undergraduate students, 98 percent are receiving some form of financial aid, according to NCES. The form of financial aid available is grants and scholarships, which do not need to be paid back, and student loans. Grants, scholarships, and student loans can be obtained by filling out the free application for student financial aid (FASFA). Also, federal grants and federal student loans are offered, state and local grants and scholarships are offered, institutional grants and scholarships are offered, and private grants, scholarships, and student loans are all offered.

One unique feature of Tiffin University is that the university offers a military discount on tuition rates. According to their website, the discount is available to active-duty military, retired military, veterans, reservists, National Guard, and dependents of active-duty military. For active-duty military, the undergraduate tuition rate is $250 per credit hour and the graduate tuition rate is $325 per credit hour. For all other eligible members of the military, the undergraduate tuition rate is $150 per credit hour and the graduate tuition rate is $250 per credit hour.
