Norwich University offers several online master’s degree programs in a variety of high-interest areas for motivated working professionals who have a passion for making a difference in their chosen fields. Interactive discussions and teaching occur online, and all programs culminate in a week-long capstone residency experience on-campus in central Vermont. Popular programs include the Master of Science in Nursing and the Master of Science in Business Administration.

The online Master of Science in Nursing is designed to meet the demands of the healthcare industry with regards to nurses who have expertise, passion, and leadership skills. The program aims to help students build the essential skills they need to pursue advanced roles in nursing education, healthcare systems leadership, or the growing field of nursing informatics. The MSN is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and students may choose from one of three concentrations: Nursing Informatics, Nursing Education, and Healthcare Systems Leadership. After completing the MSN program with a concentration in Nursing Education or Nursing Informatics, students may qualify to sit for the National League for Nursing Nurse Educator Certification Exam or the ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification Exam, respectively. The program begins with three six-credit courses that focus on research for evidence-based practice, theoretical foundations of practice, the roles of the advanced nursing, and healthcare systems, practice, and policy as well as quality improvement practice, informatics, and technology. Each core course lasts 11 weeks and includes 100 hours of mentored experiential learning and clinical practice at the student’s chosen practicum site.

Norwich University offers an online Master of Business Administration program that is designed to give students the tools they need to approach business from a global perspective through collaboration with other students, industry-relevant specializations, a dynamic curriculum, and hands-on learning. The Master of Business Administration program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Students can choose from a number of concentrations such as a General MBA, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Project Management, Organizational Leadership, Finance, Energy Management, and Construction Management. Students will learn from expert faculty members who are dedicated to their success and provide a personal learning experience, guidance, and one-on-one feedback.

Students pursuing the Project Management concentration prepare to sit for the PMI examination as this concentration is accredited by the PMI Global Accreditation Center. Students may earn their degree within 18 months, and the curriculum consists of 36 credits. Students take six courses, each of which is delivered online over 11 weeks. Students take one course at a time, creating a strong foundation of context and knowledge for future topics. Courses cover topics such as strategic marketing and operations management, managerial finance, and strategic resources management. In addition, all concentrations with the exception of the General MBA require students to complete an independent research project. Through this project, Norwich University students will create a case study based on a corporate partner and practice the skills they have gained in the project management concentration courses.

Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont, is a private university located in Northfield, Vermont. Founded in 1819 as the American Literary, Scientific and Military Academy in Norwich, Vermont, it is the oldest private military university in the country. Norwich University is accredited by the oldest regional accrediting body in the country, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Two of Norwich’s graduate programs also have additional, industry-specific accreditation: the Master of Business Administration program, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs and the Master of Science in Nursing program, which is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Additionally, the Project Management concentration that is available in both the Master of Science in Information Security & Assurance program, as well as the Master of Business Administration, is accredited by the PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs, the leading professional association in the world for the project management field.

Norwich University Application Requirements

Application requirements will vary depending on the degree chosen. However, all prospective graduate students must submit a completed application form, pay a nonrefundable application fee, and submit a current resume. Norwich University also requires official transcripts from all previously attended institutions, including the school at which the bachelor’s degree was earned, as well as a letter of intent and a letter of recommendation from an academic or personal contact. Some departments have program-specific requirements such as a minimum grade-point average or a minimum score on a graduate standardized test such as the GMAT or the GRE.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The exact tuition cost a student can expect to pay will depend on his or her degree of choice. However, the master’s programs range in cost from $662 per credit hour to $825 per credit hour. The majority of master’s degrees cost $704 per credit hour. However, the final tuition cost will also depend on the number of credits required for the completion of any given program. Additional expenses include a one-time $150 graduation fee, a library fee of $75 per term, and a technology fee of $300 per term. Students who wish to determine whether they are eligible for financial aid are required to complete the FAFSA. Norwich offers a number of types of financial aid, including grants, employer education benefits, loans, and work-study programs. In addition, the school recognizes its military students and offers tuition discounts and other benefits. Scholarships are only available for alumni and active-duty military students who are pursuing a master’s degree program at Norwich University.
