Students at Midway University have many options for earning their degree with formats that include on-campus study and online study. The college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, and the most popular subjects studied at the college include business, education, health, psychology, and criminal justice.

The university is considered selective and admits just over 60 percent of its applicants each year. The freshman retention rate is 79 percent, and the overall student-to-faculty ratio for classes is 19:1. After enrolling at the university, about 31 percent of the school’s undergraduate students graduate within four years.

Within the university’s online program offerings, students can enroll in a variety of majors and minors, as well as receive credit for prior learning experiences. There are some technical requirements, and students can also take general education courses to expand their horizons. There are two associate degrees at the university that include the business administration program and the nursing program, which is held in the evening.

For bachelor’s degrees, the university offers an excellent variety of degrees in business administration, criminal justice, English, marketing communications, and several degrees in education. Some of the areas of specialization that students can specialize in include elementary education, middle school math, secondary English, or learning and behavior disorders. Additional areas of study are available in sport management, mathematics, psychology, and nursing.

Applicants who want to study at the graduate level and would like to participate in online classes can choose from a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Nursing, or a Master of Education degree. Within each program, students are offered specializations.

For example, the Master of Business program features concentrations in equine management, sport management, health care administration, and tourism & event management. The MBA is designed with conveniently scheduled classes of eight weeks each where students can arrange their own schedule to complete their work.

Technology requirements for online study include having a computer with a minimum of Windows XP installed, memory of 512 MB, and a CPU of 1.0 GHz or faster. Around 10 MB of disk space is required, and students can use the Internet Explorer or Mozilla browser to access their classes. Students can also work on an Apple computer as long as the operating system is Mac OS 9.0 or higher, and the computer’s memory is at least 512 MB.

About Midway University

Midway University is located in Midway, Kentucky and is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ denomination of Christianity. Around 1,600 students attend the school with those students earning two-year and four-year degrees, as well as a handful of graduate degrees. The university was established in 1847 and was a women’s college until 2016 when the change was made to begin admitting male students. The official colors of the school are blue, white, and yellow.

When it opened its doors, the school was named the Kentucky Female Orphan School and had 16 students and one teacher. The school was overseen by a board of trustees, and the school sat on property of five acres. Today, the school covers 200 acres and features a working farm outside of Midway, the small town for which it is named. The oldest building on the campus is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Midway University Accreditation Details

Midway University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Accreditation allows the university to award associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees. Some programs at the university are also accredited by various agencies. All three nursing degrees are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.

Additionally, the ADN program is an approved program by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. The education programs offered at the university are approved by the Kentucky Educational and Professional Standards Board. Midway University Application Requirements

There are three application options for students who want to attend Midway University. Applications may be made for undergraduate classes, graduate programs, and evening & online undergraduate programs. To apply, students will submit the official application, the application fee, and their official transcripts from previous schools. Transcripts sent to the school must come directly from the school or schools the student has attended.

Some students may be required to submit high school transcripts even though they’ve already completed a college degree. For example, the nursing program requires that students have a high school diploma, so it’s necessary for applicants to have their high school transcripts sent to the university, even if they graduated several years ago.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students interested in undergraduate programs at Midway University will pay $12,250 for the full-time rate each semester, or $910 per credit hour for half-time. The summer term is $395 per credit hour Students who enroll in undergraduate evening and online classes will pay $395 for tuition or $354 for tuition if they’re in the RN-BSN program. Graduate students will pay a per-credit rate of $520 for the MBA program, $250 for the M.Ed. program, or $494 for the MSN program.

Room and board for students who live on campus vary from $1,600 to $2,700 each semester. Commuting students can also purchase a dining room plan for 20 meals for $140. Students will also pay a technology fee of $75 each semester, as well as a student activity fee of $100 each semester if they’re an undergraduate student participating in classes on campus. Online courses are assessed a $150 fee per online course taken.

Students can qualify for financial aid at Midway University when they submit a FAFSA form, as well as submit their official application. Additional paperwork and forms may be required. The university will send the student a Student Aid Report to indicate whether additional paperwork is required to complete the financial aid application.
