The University of Augusta is a public university. It’s known for its academic medical center, which includes both a medical school and a dental school. About Augusta University

Sitting on more than 600 acres, Augusta University is located in Augusta, Georgia and is one of the schools in the University System of Georgia. The school also has campuses in Rome, Savannah, Athens, and Albany.

The US Army originally used the school’s Summerville campus to store its arsenal. By 1955, the arsenal was closed and land was gifted to the local Board of Ed. That land later became the grounds for the Junior College of Augusta, which eventually became Augusta State University.

Students at the university can get involved on campus by joining academic clubs and organizations. The school’s sororities and fraternities allow students to delve into Greek life.

The campus additionally offers students a recreation center, where students can go to take classes or get a workout in before class. The school’s Intramural and Club Sports lets students participate in sports and socialize at the same time.

Augusta University Application Requirements

The students who attend Augusta University are diverse. The school’s Admissions Office sees applications from dual-enrollment students, as well as freshmen, international, graduate, non-degree seeking, and transfer students.

Homeschooled students must complete a Home School Credit Evaluation form and submit the Declaration of Intent to Home School to the local Board of Ed. They must also get either a 23 on the ACT or 1117 on the SAT.

Non-traditional/ life enrichment students don’t need to submit SAT or ACT scores. However, they must take an ACCUPLACER Exam to be eligible for admission.

Augusta University recommends that transfer students take advantage of the school’s Transfer Equivalency Guide before applying.

International students can submit their transcripts to an evaluation service, like Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc., Josef Silney & Associates, Inc. or World Education Services. These students are also required to have an F1 visa and a Certificate of Finances. Finally, the school requires international students to submit a TOEFL score if their first language isn’t English.

Graduate students should connect with the department they intend to apply to in order to determine which application materials they may need to submit. Undergraduate tuition rates are $3,446 for residents and $11,135 for non-residents unless the students are on the Health Sciences campus. Tuition costs for that campus are $4,432 for residents and $14,189 for non-resident.

Graduate school rates vary widely. Tuition for these students ranges in the $2,000 to $5,000 range. However, the Medical College of Georgia’s tuition is more than $14,000 per year. The Dental College of Georgia is more than $13,000 per year.

Online tuition rates are by the credit hour and range from $230 to over $500.

Augusta University students can file for financial aid to pay for their schooling by filling out a FAFSA form. Financial aid includes scholarships, grants, and loans.
