Trinity College, founded in 1823, is amongst the few colleges in the northeast section of the country that is not currently offering online degrees. Though the school is offering mass online courses for free to the general public, it has not yet, joined the online revolution in education. The campus sits on a hundred acres in the center of Harford, Connecticut. The courses and degrees offered at the school are among the most desired on the east coast. Trinity College offers 41 majors and over 900 courses to complete a well-rounded curriculum that produces graduates that impact social environments around the globe.
Trinity College’s philosophical approach is grounded in Scripture studies. Every graduate with a Bachelor of Arts has a double major that includes a baccalaureate in Bible and Theology accompanied by a major of the student’s choice. The effect of this curriculum is to not only increase knowledge of the Scriptures but also to meld the ethics found in them with the other major field of study the student finds to be of interest.

As of July 2019, Trinity College discontinued minors for undergraduates in favor of the double major. Students find no trouble in fulfilling this dream as the intense curriculum at Trinity College is one of the finest in the world. The double major program offers an intense look at the world of their chosen major for any graduate, no matter what the student selects as their secondary field of study.
Trinity offers two programs for superior students in the fields of neuroscience and American studies to receive both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in their subject in five years. These programs are designed for the student who is excelling in both their Bible and Theology major and their chosen major. The degrees offer a chance for superior students to enter the workforce with a masters-level degree in the shortest time possible.
For those graduates who choose to enter a masters-level program after working in the public or private sector, Trinity College offers graduate degree programs in:

The student can opt to take these degrees in either a full-time or part-time format. The courses are typically presented in the evenings to accommodate those students who are working.

Despite the college’s lean toward theology, Forbes Magazine ranks Trinity College as the 45th Best Liberal Arts Colleges in America. The publication also ranks the college as 52nd In the Northeast, 82nd in Private Colleges, 109th in its list of Top Colleges, and 174th in Best Value Colleges in America. US News and World Report ranks the school as number 46 in its list of National Liberal Arts Colleges, 49th in Best Value Schools, and 51st in Best Undergraduate Teaching.
Trinity College Accreditation Details
Trinity College is regionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. Schools receiving this accreditation meet or exceed the stringent requirements demanded by the Commission.
Trinity College Application Requirements
With a total student body of only 2,180 and over 7,000 undergraduate applicants each year, it is not surprising to note that the acceptance rate at Trinity College is low. Of all the applicants, only 40% are accepted and less than 22% of those accepted complete the application process. The total number of students admitted each year is between 500 and 600. After admission, the school graduates over 80% of its students making it one of the top colleges in the country to retain students to the end of their programs.
To gain admittance to Trinity College, students must submit a secondary school completion transcript that reflects the following hours of study:
- Four years of English
- Three years of foreign language
- Two years of laboratory science
- Two years of algebra
- One year of geometry
- Two years of history
The applicant must also solicit an evaluation form a college or guidance counselor and positive evaluations from at least two teachers who instructed the student during their last two years of high school. SAT or ACT scores are optional, but those who successfully chose to take these tests and use them in their application scored a minimum of 1390 in the SAT and 31 in the ACT. Each student must write a 250-650-word essay listed on the Common Application form found online. Trinity College’s standards of acceptance do not discriminate against the underprivileged. The acceptance criteria depends on whether the Acceptance Committee feels that am applicant will expand the horizons of the other students that surround them.
Graduate school applicants to Trinity College must submit the unopened official transcripts from any accredited college or university they attended after receiving their undergraduate degree. The application is available online and requires a $75.00 non-refundable fee. The request must be accompanied by two recommendation letters, addressing the applicant’s academic abilities or promise. The applicant must also write a 750-word maximum essay on the goal of pursuing the degree.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Every first-year student is required to reside on the Trinity College campus. Tuition is high at this school, coming in at $28,190 per semester. With room and board and mandatory fees included, the total per semester runs at $37,225. Graduate students are expected to pay $2,900 per credit hour of study.
To alleviate the cost of education at Trinity College, the school offers the help of its Financial Aid department. The school’s financial aid specialists are well versed in finding funds to assist the student. Scholarships from communities, the state of Connecticut, and from national organizations are readily available for those students who qualify. The school is diligent in its search for Pell Grants, Need Grants, and has an abundance of philanthropic donors to help students with the high cost of education. The school has a direct connection with the Federal Student Loan System, but only uses it as a final solution.
