Liberty University is one of the nation’s largest Christian university and offers over 200 undergraduate degree options at its Lynchburg, VA campus. Students can earn associate, bachelor’s, master’s degrees, and doctorates, in addition to professional law, medical, and veterinary degrees. While the university places a significant emphasis on religion, youth ministry, and religious studies degrees, students can also find traditional degree programs in life sciences, social sciences, arts, and technology. There is also a Bachelor of Science in Zoo and Wildlife Biology option, in addition to the pre-vet Bachelor of Science in Zoology, which are unique offerings for private universities.

Liberty University also offers three postgraduate degrees: Education Specialist (Ed.S) with specialization in elementary education, middle grades education, secondary education, or special education, an Ed.S in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in educational leadership, and a Theology (Th.M) degree with concentrations in biblical studies, Christian apologetics, church history, global studies, homiletics, and theology.

Liberty’s online campus offers over 500 different undergraduate and graduate programs, in addition to professional and graduate certificates. Associate degree programs include medical office assistant, religion, psychology, business, and accounting. Students can earn their bachelor’s degree in one of dozens of options, including aviation, early childhood education, graphic design, nursing, paralegal studies, or social work. About Liberty University

Liberty University is a private non-profit college in Lynchburg, VA, with an additional online campus that offers both undergraduate and graduate-level programs, taught by over 2,500 full and part-time faculty. Founded by Jerry Falwell, Sr. in 1971 to provide a Christian education in Virginia, the campus now encompasses 7,000 acres with 380 buildings and 200 classrooms. Liberty University Application Requirements

Prospective students seeking admission to Liberty University are evaluated on cumulative GPA or GED scores, SAT or SAT scores, and their application essay. Students may also submit reference letters and a resume detailing community service and leadership roles as an optional addendum to their application.

Liberty University suggests that applicants follow a college preparatory curriculum that includes at least four units of English, two to three years of college prep math, two years of laboratory science, two years of social science, and two years of foreign language.

Admission to Liberty University is relatively competitive, with an average high school GPA of 3.15–3.83, average SAT scores of 1020–1220, and an average ACT composite score of 20–27.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for Liberty University’s on-campus undergraduate program is $23,800 per year, with additional fees assessed for housing, dining, and mandatory student fees. On-campus graduate program tuition ranges from $545 per credit hour for most master’s degree programs to $47,000 per academic year for programs in the Liberty University College of Medicine.

Tuition for the online programs vary slightly from the physical campus tuition. Many programs, including graduate and undergraduate programs, range in cost from $330 to $606 per credit hour. School of Divinity students pay a block rate of $2,750. Military students receive a discounted tuition rate of $250 for undergraduate courses and $275 for graduate courses. Liberty University Online students are eligible to receive many of the same scholarships and tuition waivers as students in the on-campus programs. Liberty also offers some scholarships specifically for those enrolled in online programs.

Liberty University offers several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, both merit and need-based. There are also scholarships for honorably discharged veterans with a Purple Heart, combat-related disabilities or illness, or those with spouses killed during one of the Gulf Wars. There are also first responder discounts, missionary and Christian-living scholarships, and scholarships for valedictorians and salutatorian, in addition to scholarships offered by the state of Virginia. Liberty University’s website states that over 88% of the institution’s students receive some type of financial aid.
