Online or at Orlando and Denver campuses, Adventist University of Health Sciences maintains an 8:1 student-faculty ratio in four associate, eight bachelor’s, and 10 graduate programs. About Adventist University of Health Sciences
Adventist University of Health Sciences originated in 1913 when Florida Hospital Medical Center started a three-year Registered Nursing Program. Accredited by the Joint Commission, FHMC added the Radiography Program in 1962. Two decades later, the Southern College of Seventh-Day Adventists sponsored an Associate of Science in Nursing there. On August 23, 1992, Chaplain Dr. David Greenshaw officially opened the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences for an inaugural class of 243. In 1998, the NLN Center of Excellence earned four-year degree authority for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Online studies beyond the 1,368-bed Orlando hospital began in 2001 with the B.S. in Radiological Sciences. In 2008, the first graduate program was launched, leading to the Adventist University of Health Sciences name in 2012. Effective January 2, 2019, it will be rebranded as AdventHealth University. Adventist University of Health Sciences Accreditation Details
In January 2011, Adventist University of Health Sciences satisfactorily underwent an in-depth review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to renew the Level V accreditation for 10 years under its second president, Dr. Edwin I. Hernández, who received the 2017 CEO Excel Award. Located 446 miles north via Interstate 75 in Decatur, this large 11-state Lower Atlantic accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to certify ADU’s Federal Title-IV eligibility. Adventist University of Health Sciences Application Requirements
Entering Adventist University of Health Sciences is labeled “minimally difficult” by Peterson’s because 307 of the 317 Fall 2017 applicants were triumphant for 97 percent acceptance. Recent high school grads must have cumulative GPAs of 2.70 or better. Minimum testing standards are 910 on the SAT and 19 on the ACT. Undergrad transfers with 12+ credits and 2.7 college GPAs are exempt. The Online B.S. in Diagnostic Medical Sonography only considers CAAHEP-accredited diploma or associate holders with 2.5 GPAs and AART licensure. Same goes for the Online B.S. in Radiological Sciences stipulating a JRCERT-approved certificate. Starting the B.S. in Nursing Online requires passing the NCLEX-RN exam and fulfilling prerequisites with “C” or better grades. Advancing into the 18-month Online MSN tracks necessitates active RN licensing and 3.0 GPAs in undergrad courses like Health Assessment. Executive MHA entrants must have “B” bachelor’s averages and 3+ years of experience. The Physician Assistant Program seeks at least 2,000 direct patient care hours first. Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia cohorts also present an average 298 GRE Revised score with 3.5 on Analytical Writing.
Adventist University of Health Sciences has general admission deadlines of July 1st for Fall, November 1st for Spring, and March 1st for Summer starts. However, online bachelor’s admit until July 31st, December 9th, and April 11th respectively. The Master of Health Administration cohorts apply until April 1st. For 2018-19, Adventist University of Health Sciences is charging associate and bachelor’s students $485 per credit. Undergrads pay a $300 matriculation fee, $160 allied health program fee, $325 clinical nursing fee, and Web-based curriculum support fee per trimester. Living at the Orlando campus’ housing like Bay Run adds $6,126 for room and board. ADU budgets $2,310 for texts and $4,640 for miscellaneous. Average annual bachelor’s study equals $27,476 on-site and $21,350 at home. Graduate nursing and health administration programs bill $600 per credit with $250 fees each trimester.
